    Description

    The Puls e Bardhë i Beratit is a pure white wine made from the Albanian native grape variety Puls, an ancient and precious variety deeply rooted in the winemaking tradition of the Berat region. This grape, cultivated on the scenic terraced vineyards of Malinat, at an altitude between 350 and 400 meters above sea level, benefits from an extraordinary and unrepeatable terroir.

    The geographical position creates unique pedoclimatic conditions: on one side stands the majestic Mount Tomori (2,416 m), with its cool mountain influence, and on the other, the breeze from the Adriatic coastline, only a few kilometers away, brings balance and harmony to the microclimate. This meeting of mountain and sea allows the grapes to reach ideal ripeness, ensuring aromatic complexity, freshness, and structure.

    The Puls grape is distinguished by its natural minerality and savoriness, paired with an elegant and substantial structure. Aromatically, it reveals a range of scents that extend from the floral notes typical of the region’s wild flora – with a particular reference to santolina – to refined and complex fruity notes. Clear nuances of peach, plum, and strawberry tree fruit enrich its aromatic profile and make every sip an authentic expression of the Berat territory.

    The winemaking process respects the characteristics of the variety: the grapes are harvested at full aromatic ripeness and, after a brief skin maceration, the must is fermented at low temperatures. This technique helps preserve and enhance the finest and most fragrant notes, maintaining the integrity of the original aromas and giving the wine the desired aromatic complexity.

    Organoleptic Analysis

    • Appearance: the wine presents a bright straw yellow color, clear and crystalline, with slightly low consistency, confirming its freshness and immediacy.

    • On the nose: it is fairly intense and persistent, with fine olfactory quality. The aromas recall an aromatic, floral, and fruity bouquet, enriched with delicate citrus notes that add liveliness and freshness.

    • On the palate: the sip is dry, moderately warm, and fresh, with a distinct mineral savoriness reflecting the limestone soils of Malinat. The balance between acidity, alcohol, and minerality makes the wine harmonious and pleasant, with well-defined taste intensity and aromatic persistence that leaves an elegant and refined sensation on the palate.

    Overall, Puls e Bardhë i Beratit is a well-balanced wine, with an authentic personality and refined character, capable of telling the richness of a historic grape variety and the uniqueness of an extraordinary territory. It pairs beautifully with light appetizers, fish dishes, seafood, or delicate white meats, and is also perfect enjoyed on its own as a daily pleasure that celebrates the soul of Albanian winemaking.

    Medaur Winery

    The Medaur winery was founded in 2003 and is located in Koplik, in the Malesia e Madhe area of Albania. Federico Cerelli has been leading the "Medaur" winery for 4 years. He oversees every stage, from production to the final bottling phase. Federico is an Italian oenologist who has worked with important wineries in the Chianti area of Tuscany, such as Antinori, Castello di Gabbiano, and Cavaliere d’Oro.
